Love Your Neighbor: Practical Ideas for Moms

Diapers, strollers, playdates, parks, car lines, appointments, PTA meetings, games, groceries, lunchboxes, practices, lessons….

The list goes on and on, and I haven’t even mentioned being a wife, having a career, time with friends or cleaning the house.  Every mom is unique and every day is different, but on any given day, most mothers experience joy, excitement, discouragement, overstimulation, exhaustion and a myriad of other emotions.

In the midst of it, do you ever wonder how in the world to take Jesus’ command to love those OUTSIDE your home seriously?

At NBS2GO, we sincerely believe that living out the great commandments and the great commission shouldn’t feel like tasks added to a never-ending to-do list.  We believe that God is always inviting us into deeper fellowship with Himself as we live out our normal days in our normal circumstances. The extraordinary part of walking with God is that we go through life WITH HIM!  And loving our neighbor is the same, we only join God where He’s working by keeping our eyes open as we go about our days.

Who do you pass by as you push that stroller along the sidewalk?  Could you simply say “hello” and begin a friendly conversation?

Is there a mom you’ve seen before parked near you in the car line?  Could you roll down the window and get her number?

Can you find a PTA role that you can easily fill with your toddler in tow?

Is there someone at work who has kids your age that you could encourage on a lunch break?

Who is next to you in those bleachers at the sporting event?  Can you begin praying for them each week?

As a mom with young kids I made an intentional decision to simply pray for God to show me where he was at work around me. God has done things in and through me in the last decade as a result of those prayers.  I’ve even had the privilege of hosting many Bible studies in my living room for neighbors, PTA moms and even volleyball moms as a result of praying and just taking the next step to love the people right around me.

NBS2GO is hosting an online gathering to encourage YOU as you seek to love your neighbor well–even while you have kids at home.  Join us on August 27th at 11 am CT for a time designed with you in mind.
