Debbie McGoldrick, Founder
Debbie’s heart for taking the Word of God to her neighbors began at an early age. Her love for evangelism eventually led her to teach and disciple friends in high school and college, where her passion for spiritual multiplication began.
In 1976, Debbie began serving with Cru, and in 1989, she began intentionally building relationships with her neighbors by leading a neighborhood Bible study. Through the years Debbie had mentored and challenged other women to create neighborhood Bible study groups where women can begin and grow in a relationship with Christ. She loves God’s promise in Isaiah 55:11 and continually claims it for the planting of Neighbor Bible Studies around the world.
“I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all that I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it,”
Isaiah 55:11 NLT

As a child, Rebecca loved to write. She nurtured this skill as an educator and later as an editor for an online magazine. Rebecca then joined Neighbor Bible Studies at its inception. She serves as the YouVersion Content Creator, with over 100 Plans on the Bible.com app.

As a Southerner who grew up in a small town in north Alabama, Sherri experienced early on the soul-filling value and strength of family, community, and a good, snuggly dog. It’s no surprise that she now works full-time for a ministry whose vision is to see every community around the world transformed by the power of God’s Word.
Sherri’s experience and skill in empowering leaders in the marketplace led her here in order to empower and equip leaders to cultivate a deeper walk with God and help others do the same.
Sherri has learned that successes, failures, triumphs, and tragedies are all used by God to refine us, but not define us. She has found great peace in knowing that her worth and value are forever established by God’s love for her.
Sherri now calls Atlanta, Georgia home where she lives with her playful little beagle, Snickers. She enjoys running, swimming, gardening, and laughing with friends and family.
Jessica has served with NBS2GO for three years as she has been raising her three children who are all too young to go to school. She and her husband Nate gather with their neighbors regularly for a meal and Bible study and are passionate about being the church to others outside the four walls of a church building. She enjoys co-producing content for @called_toshine, an Instagram account to inspire and equip Christ followers to shine in their neighborhoods.
Shawn grew up in Cincinnati and graduated from Miami University with a degree in Elementary Education, though some may argue that she majored in “Cru.”
After graduation, she served as Cru staff at the University of Delaware until she met her sweet husband, Kevin, who whisked her away to Peoria, Illinois.
Because Shawn’s heart beats for women to know God and make Him known, she has always been active in women’s ministry and Bible study. With kids at home, that involvement meant being a teacher, development director, and discipleship director at the Christian school her children Abby and Zach attended. But when Shawn and Kevin entered their fifties, God led them to quit their jobs and rejoin staff with Cru, where they spent ten years on campus at Lee University.
Shawn’s most recent “yes” to God’s leading was transitioning to CruCity and Neighbor Bible Studies.
Shawn likes traveling, missions, antiquing, crafting, eating, reading on the beach, studying God’s Word with others, and spending time with family–especially her three grandbabies (Rowan, Rhea and Payton).
Meggan hails from Hudson, Ohio. She met Jesus in high school and grew in love for God and others through the ministry of Young Life. After graduating from Miami University in Ohio in 1996, Meggan worked in campus ministry with CRU at the University of Michigan. In 2001, she shifted into local church ministry, giving leadership to Small Groups, Womens’ ministries, and Mom’s ministries. In 2020, Meggan followed God’s lead to shift her focus to ministering more directly to her neighborhood and local community, joining the Neighbor Bible Studies team.
Meggan enjoys sunsets, traveling, having coffee with friends, playing in the mountains or at the beach, paddleboarding, and cheering for her boys in whatever sports they are playing. She lives in Longmont, Colorado with her husband, Ben, her two teenage sons, John & Sammy, and their Golden Retriever, Nala.
As a wife, mother, grandmother, author, speaker, and recovering perfectionist, Pam knows how to balance the pressures of family life, ministry, work, and a relationship with God. Through the power of God’s Word, friendships, and chocolate, she has learned to rest in God’s strong arms and help guide others to that same peace.
Experiencing first-hand the love of God, Pam has committed her adulthood to helping others discover a deeper relationship with God through His Word. Her years as a women’s ministry director, Bible teacher, small group discipleship leader, and Christian communicator have led her to NBS2GO.
Pam has learned in over 45 years of running toward God that He can use anyone, even a very successful failure, who is willing to share authentically the life-changing truths of God’s Word with others.
The Pineywoods of East Texas have been home to Pam and her husband, Jerry. This is where they raised their daughter and son, host grandchildren, and currently live with their storm-stressed Maltese, Beau.
In 1990, Joan joined staff with Cru. In 2007, although she felt like a big chicken, Joan knew that she wanted to step out in faith and begin a neighborhood Bible study group. With her palms sweating, she handed out flyers and prayed. Three women came, including herself and her co-leader. God showed up then, and He shows up now–with quite a few more than three.
It is more than increased numbers for which she is grateful – it is that her neighbors know there is a safe place to come with their questions about God. She desires to provide an environment where women can begin or deepen their walk with Christ through studying God’s Word, build friendships with one another, and influence their families for Christ. Joan is a recent widow and mother to three sons and one daughter.
Linda believes that God’s Word holds the answers to all our needs. She joined Cru staff in 1985, and after living overseas for 19 years, she returned to the United States with a desire to create a caring community of neighbors by hosting a Bible study.
For several years, she thought of all kinds of reasons why it wasn’t the right time. Finally, a friend challenged her by asking, “Hey, when are you going to start that Bible study you keep talking about?” Linda stepped out in faith and began. It’s been exciting for her to see women from five different countries gather to study the Word of God, pray for one another, and serve one another. Linda loves spending time with her husband Walter and their five grown children. She also enjoys tennis and snorkeling.
Caroline joined Neighbor Bible Studies in 2016 and loves seeing people come to know Christ! As part of her passion for global missions, God led her to become fluent in Spanish and to serve as a Spanish interpreter both in Guatemala and Atlanta. Locally, Caroline is a small group leader in her neighborhood Bible study and enjoys facilitating space for others to study the Word.
Linda lives in Marietta, GA, and has been on staff with Cru for nearly four decades. After many years in East Asia, where she and her husband Keith raised three kids and served in the campus ministry, she returned to the US. Linda has served in the area of Global and US Leadership Development and Human Resources, particularly in the area of staff care. With a degree in Pastoral Counseling and as a certified Spiritual Director, Linda loves encouraging and equipping believers to be deeply rooted in the Word of God. Throughout her life, Linda has always engaged in reaching out to her neighbors and turning them to the transformational power of scripture. In addition to being part of the Neighbor Bible Studies team, Linda also serves with Cru City Global in the area of Transformational Prayer ministry. This interactive style of Spirit-led, listening prayer helps make space for the receiver to encounter God’s love and the truth of His word more deeply. In her free time, Linda loves being Mimi to her seven grandchildren, long walks in nature, local coffee shops, and reading on her porch.

Twenty-something years ago, Jessica got invited to a Bible Study on her college campus. She wasn’t looking for religion but liked people and thought, “Why not?” Her Bible Study leader didn’t invite her to religion, but she did introduce her to Jesus. Jessica eventually gave her life to Jesus and hasn’t stopped introducing others to him since.
For Jessica, introducing people to her Savior isn’t an ulterior motive in building relationships but is an ultimate one. If someone has transformed our lives and stolen our hearts and has the capacity to love the whole world–why wouldn’t we want others to know him?
God continues to show Jessica that ministry isn’t just a vocation or calling but a lifestyle. Building relationships RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE for the glory of God and the love of people is thrilling. Wherever God has you: a foreign country, a neighborhood street, a work cubicle, or the gym treadmill, God can and will use his people to invite others to know him and be transformed by the study of His Word.
The Neighbor Bible Studies ministry is undergirded by a faithful team of prayer warriors. This team has met faithfully since 2010 to pray for every endeavor God puts forth for Neighbor Bible Studies.
